I know a few of you are living in the city and if you haven’t heard already, they are test trialing new RFID subway passes. The NYC subway is teaming with McDonalds and Mastercard to come up with a system. So, not only will you be able to get on the subway, but you can get fat doing it by using this subway pass at McDonalds and 7-11′s.
This technology isn’t new by any means. Europe and Asia have been doing this for years. But back in 1996 when I went to Hong Kong, they were still collecting Olympic themed subway cards. People were fighting tooth and nail for these things. I still have it as a keepsake, but they didn’t have the RFID in place yet. This just gives another reason for the system to track users. Could this be used to fight crime?
Even with this new technology, I’d rather pay for a token and put it in a trolley car on Boston’s T. Call me nostalgic, but it is who I am.

You ever see Enemy of the State? This is just another plan by covert government agencies to track our every movement in case we become “a problem.”
