Verizon Free WAP Access

The title to this post may be a little misleading, but if you have a WAP enabled phone from Verizon, you can get some semi-free internet access on your phone. This isn’t illegal by any means. This comes in quite hand yif you need to check email from an area where you don’t have your laptop, but have your handy dandy cell phone. Here’s how.

First off, I have the Verizon LG VX8100. This phone is really robust and full of features. It has built-in EV-DO for cellular broadband. You can read about EV-DO from my other post here. But most importantly, you can access it’s maintenance menus. These menus come in VERY handy for turning off certain features to dave battery life and most importantly changing your proxy server to the internet. All of the phones from Verizon are shipped to you with Verizon’s proxy server programmed onto the phone. You can access the maintanence menu by hitting menu then the “zero” button. Then put in all zeroes for the access code. You will then see an option for WAP setting.

Once you are here, you will have to find a website that posts free proxy servers. proxy4free.com is the one I use and it is frequently updated. All you have to do then is to fill in the proxy IP adress and the port number associated with the IP and you are ALL SET! NOTE: I am not responsible for you losing all internet access on your phone if you do this wrong. NOTE 2: NOTHING in life is free, so with that being said, this is free, but you will incur minutes used on your plan. But if you have unlimited nights and weekends, then minutes will not be used!

There are many sites out there on how to “hack” your cell phone, so just Google it. Happy Hacking!
